STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF THE GREAT HISTORIAN OF THE TURKIC WORLD, ILBER ORTAYLI

The passing of the distinguished historian and intellectual of the Turkic world, İlber Ortaylı, has created a great void in the intellectual and academic life of the Turkic world.
For many years, İlber Ortaylı earned wide respect through his profound scholarly work on Turkish history, the institutional structure of the Ottoman state, and Turkish cultural heritage. He was not only a historian but also a prominent intellectual who significantly contributed to the development and dissemination of historical consciousness within society. Through his writings, books, and public lectures, he paved the way for many young scholars and played an important role in strengthening public interest in history.
The valuable works he contributed to the shared intellectual heritage of the Turkic world will continue to guide future generations.
